Our friends Kathy and Ted Nussbaum hosted a luau party. One of the party games was this minute-to-win-it game in which the Oreo cookie starts on the forehead, and without touching it, you need to manuever it into your mouth. Fun times.

Mustache Tuesday

This is Lori's crazy Nursing School friend, Lisa (left front). She has done this before, and uh, also jumped out of a perfectly good plane. Did I mention she donated one of her kidneys? She's terrific. This pic is from her Facebook page. She lives each day to the fullest, and is a wonderful example....maybe we all need a mustache on Tuesdays.....lighten up people!

Frank, May have Lost His Marbles!
Kudos to Lori's Dad, Frank, for his expert garage sale knowledge. He has been a blessing and a real motivator in this transition from Oregon to Alaska. Managing the garage sale and rallying the troops is no small task! In fact, it takes a real "special" person....

Preparing for the Rose Bowl....
We bought the pups some Oregon Duck shirts from Rite Aid. They had reasonable prices and nice quality.
All three dogs, Checkers, Tiger (not pictured), and Bear will be sporting the green and yellow attire in support of the home team who are playing in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day.

2009 Newberg Old Fashioned Festival
The Newberg Old Fashioned Festival is 4 days of events and activities, centered around Memorial Park. We look forward to each July, to be able to enjoy this hometown venue.
Thursday is crowning of the festival queen and childrens parade. Friday is day-long music and entertainment at the main stage, with nearby food court and vendor booths. A block away is the carnival. Saturday and Sunday morning the local Rotarians serve up pancake breakfast. Saturday night is the spectacular fireworks display (see separate video post). Sunday is the carshow & cruise-in

Kudos to the Newberg volunteer fire department for security and clean-up of the event, and kudos to the boyscouts for their dedication to service during the event as well.
