Well... we did what any normal person would do...we golfed at high noon, 18 holes.
We spent the afternoon and evening with our friends, Lynn and Randy. They found a deal on golf that included 18 holes and a cart. The course at McNary in Salem was surrounded by homes, so we each had our shots at the homes (unintentional, of course). Different thuds, or pings would help us identify the surface that our balls had made contact. During the entire game, we had homes lining the course.
We we're grateful that the course had many large, mature trees that provided shade at most points during the game. I took a picture of a redwood tree that had some cool looking bark patterns. Animals we saw today: a squirrel, geese and a blue heron. The course was green and well cared for. Towards the end of our game, we played in areas that had just been watered, so with the combination of the very hot temperature and the moisture evaporating from the freshly watered grass, it became more unbearable, like a sauna.
Just before we parted ways with our friends for the evening, we noticed the beautiful sunset...had to share a couple pictures:
